Claiming Independence

 THE NEED FOR INDEPENDENCE

Independence today, seems like a basic need for not only a nation but individuals. We love to determine what we do, how we do it and when we do it. It all had to be our own choice and will.  We an even go to levels to see to it that we have our way and be rulers of ourselves.

Simple Definition of autonomy
  • : the state of existing or acting separately from others

  • : the power or right of a country, group, etc., to govern itself

CAN WE REALLY GET INDEPENDENT?

Do we ever get to a state where all our actions and thoughts are completely independent of influence? Or is this self-reliance just an illusion our minds create to make us feel free?

We can not deny the fact that our actions, words and thoughts are not really our own. They are a result of everything environment has offered to us. Everything we have been exposed to right from childhood. So it is almost impossible to get to a level where you completely living an autonomous life.

CHOOSING DEPENDENCE RIGHTLY

Seeing that even when we choose to take over our lives, and be lords of our bodies, we still find ourselves in the trap of dependence. The truth of the matter is we can either choose to depend on Christ for our lives, or we will automatically find ourselves giving the devil rule over our lives. Let us choose wisely under whose rule and influence we want to be. Because of the two options, only the Lord has good intentions for our lives.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ( Proverbs 3:5-6 )
